Jessica Simpson pours salt water up her nose bizarre beauty therapy

She's eaten fried worms in a bid to boost her metabolism and put lit candles in her ears to remove excess wax.

But Jessica Simpson hasn't yet finished her mission to try the world's most bizarre beauty therapies.

On a trip to Mumbai, she poured salt water up her nose, oil over her hair and drank a special 'digestive' drink - which simply made her burp.

That can't be comfortable: Jessica Simpson pours salt water up her nose as she films her VH1 reality series The Price Of Beauty in Mumbai

All cleaned out: But it appears the salty nose wash caused some stinging

The 29-year-old, filming her U.S. reality show The Price of Beauty, tipped her head to one side and inserted the spout of a small teapot as part of an Indian spa weekend.

She later leant over and laughed after water poured from her nose and into a bowl.

Jessica was trying Ayurveda medicine, an ancient form of alternative medicine which has been practised in India for more than 5,000 years

Down the hatch: Jessica, with best pals hairdresser Ken Paves and CaCee Cobb, knocks back a 'digestion'-aiding drink

During her research into the lengths women will go to for the sake of beauty, she has also been seen retching after eating fried worms in Thailand.

The curvy singer chomped on the dead bugs at a Bangkok food market after being told they could burn extra calories.

The VH1 reality series sees her travel around the globe with best pals hairdresser Ken Paves and CaCee Cobb.

Bad hair day: Next the singer had her head wrapped in a cone, so her hair could be doused in oil

Sticky wash: The thick oil is poured onto Jessica's hair

Now back home in the US, the Dukes Of Hazzard star - recently dubbed 'sexual napalm' by ex-boyfriend John Mayer - says she's better equipped to handle criticism.

'I definitely learned that I allow too many judgements of other people to seep in,' she said.

'Even when you think you kind of got it together and you think you can ignore it, you do still fall asleep with those voices in your head. There's no way to stop that.

'I think that going on this trip, all these places, I really just found an inner peace. I found something within myself that I didn't know was there.'

The finished result: After trying out India's more bizarre beauty practices, Jessica donned traditional dress, including hennaed hands

Jessica Simpson escapes to Mexico for sunshine break

Perhaps the recent furore over her apparent weight gain has made Jessica Simpson self-conscious, or maybe she's just protecting her skin.

But on a sunshine break in Mexico, the singer was considerably covered-up compared with her friends.

The 28-year-old wore a loose-fitting green smock while her companions soaked up the rays in bikinis.

And later, by the pool, she draped herself in a wrap and towel as the sun blazed down.

In January, Jessica sparked a media storm when she revealed an apparently curvier figure in a pair of high-waisted jeans. She was thought to have gained ten pounds.

But she has since been photographed looking toned and trim in tiny denim shorts, similar to the ones she wore when she set pulses racing in 2005 movie The Dukes Of Hazzard.

Criticism of Jessica's apparent weight gain led her sister Ashlee, ex-husband Nick Lachey and socialite friend Kim Kardashian all to defend her figure.

Ashlee said: 'All women come in different shapes, sizes, and forms and just because you're a celebrity, there shouldn't be a different standard.

'How can we expect teenage girls to love and respect themselves in an environment where we criticize a size 2 [UK size 6] figure?'

Self-conscious or sun savvy? Jessica draped herself in a towel and wrap while her friends topped up their tans

But Jessica turned the attention into a career opportunity, revealing plans to launch her own fashion line for curvy women.

'I want to create clothes that flatter every figure.

'I know how a dress can make you feel so frumpy. I promise mine won't.

'I know what flatters a woman, and trust me, I've been judged a lot in my life.

'By now I know what works if you're curvy.

'If my clothing and accessories make you feel great and let you walk proud and tall - in big, big platform shoes - then I'm happy.'

Jessica is thought to have gained 10 pounds in recent months, despite sister Ashlee claiming her sibling is a size two (UK size six).

The former Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica reality TV star spent months sculpting her body to play Daisy Duke for the 2005 big screen version of Dukes Of Hazzard.

She endured two-hour workouts six days a week with personal trainer Michael Alexander, who honed her physique with a combination of running, squats, lunges and weight-resistance exercises.

She also followed a South Beach Diet-style low-carb, high-protein menu which featured grilled chicken, fish and green vegetables.

After filming the part, Jessica said: 'My body is definitely an accomplishment.'
